Lyon Roses 2015

In a first for France, the World Federation of Rose Societies has chosen Lyon as the site to welcome the 17th WFRS meeting: Lyon Roses 2015.Under the aegis of WFRS (World Federation of Rose Societies), the Société Française des Roses, together with Roses Anciennes en France, the Société Lyonnaise d’Horticulture and the city of Lyon have joined forces to create an unforgettable rose event.

The main part of the Festival will take place at the Parc de la Tête d’Or in the three renovated rose gardens. The program features various activities and workshops on the theme of the rose, including floral art, a painting contest, a gardening workshop, a special rose fashion show, French rose grower information booths, and exhibitions…
Saturday 30st of May will end with a fireworks display offered by the city of Caluire & Cuire, which will be visible from the banks of the Rhône.

Some events will already begin in April and will run until September.

• Gadagne Museum
Exhibition “Roses, a Lyon Story” from May 21st until August 30th.

• Museum of Fine Arts
Olfactory guided tours with a perfumer on May 30th.

• Museum of Printing
“The Printers’ Garden” exhibition from April 9th until July 12th.

• At the Municipal Archives
“In the Beginning, There Was the Garden”, an exhibition on the creation of the Parc de la Tête d’Or rose garden from May 19th until August 21st.

• In Lyon book and media libraries
Lectures and themed workshops on the rose in poetry, literature and history…

• Parc de la Tête d’Or Rose Garden
“The Rose and the Wind”, photography exhibition by Nicolas Roux Dit Buisson from May 27th until October 10th.

• Orange Tree Garden of the Parc de la Tête d’Or Botanical Garden
“Land of Roses”, a singular exhibition on the rose in combination with the Botanical Garden rose garden from April 3rd to July 6th.

• Lyon City Hall
In the Atrium, an exhibition of floral compositions on May 29th, 30th and 31st, with the leading European floral art specialists.
In the courtyard, gstroll through an “Extraordinary Rose Garden” on May 29th, 30th and 31st.

• In the 9 Lyon districts
Creation of an temporary artistic expression by each of the Rhône-Alpes horticultural technical colleges in association with a visual artist.
