‘Landscape Artist of the Year 2015′ competition

Stunning Waddesdon Manor will be immortalised on canvas during a national landscape artist competition on Sky, presented by Frank Skinner and Joan Bakewell. The National Trust has teamed up with Sky Arts to search for the ‘Landscape Artist of the Year 2015′. who win a £10,000 commission to create an artwork for the trust’s collection.Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend competition heats at Waddesdon Manor as well as Trelissick on the Fal Estuary in Cornwall and Lyme Park on the edge of the Peak District in Cheshire. The trust said the scenery of the three grounds will provide inspiration for the participating artists to produce a timed landscape painting. At the end of each heat the competition judges will choose one artist to go through to the next round which will involve further artistic challenges across the UK.

Philip Edgar-Jones, director of Sky Arts, added: “I’m delighted that the National Trust are inviting us into their locations to show-off the best of the UK countryside for our budding artists to capture on canvas.

Applications for the competition are now open and it will be filmed over the spring and summer of 2015 before being broadcast on Sky Arts later in the year.

As well as being named Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2015, the winning artist will also receive a £10,000 commission to create a piece for the trust’s permanent art collection.
